What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese energy-based practice that uses gentle touch or hands positioned just above the body to encourage relaxation and a sense of balance. It's commonly incorporated into holistic wellness practices, meditation, and personal self-care rituals.

Do I need any experience to take Reiki I?

Not at all! Reiki I is designed for complete beginners. You don't need any previous experience with Reiki, meditation, yoga, or other wellness modalities. Just come with an open mind and a willingness to learn.

What's the difference between Reiki I, Reiki II, and Reiki Master?

Each certification builds on the previous level.

  • Reiki I: Learn the foundations of Reiki, traditional hand placements, and techniques for personal practice.

  • Reiki II: Explore Reiki symbols, distance Reiki, and more advanced techniques for sharing Reiki with others.

  • Reiki Master: Deepen your understanding through advanced instruction, hands-on practice, and a four-class training program culminating in graduation.

Do I have to complete Reiki I before taking Reiki II?

Yes. Reiki certifications are progressive, meaning you'll need to complete Reiki I before enrolling in Reiki II. Reiki Master training requires completion of Reiki I and II, along with any additional prerequisites established by your instructor.

Can I take Reiki certification just for myself?

Absolutely! You don't have to plan on becoming a professional Reiki practitioner to benefit from training. Many people learn Reiki to incorporate it into their own wellness rituals, meditation practices, and personal development.

Will I receive a certificate?

Yes! Upon successful completion of your training and any required coursework, you'll receive a certificate recognizing the Reiki level you've completed.

Can I offer Reiki sessions professionally after becoming certified?

Reiki II is commonly considered the level at which students begin preparing to offer Reiki sessions professionally. However, certification is not the same as a government-issued professional license. Requirements for offering services vary by location, so we encourage students to review applicable local regulations and professional considerations before beginning a practice.

What is a Reiki attunement?

A Reiki attunement is a traditional part of many Reiki training programs. It's a guided process facilitated by a Reiki Master that, within Reiki tradition, is understood to support a student's connection to Reiki energy. Your instructor will explain the experience and what to expect during your training.

What should I bring to class?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and bringing a notebook or journal, a pen, and a water bottle. All additional materials and supplies will be communicated before your training.

Will we get hands-on practice during certification?

Yes! Our Reiki trainings combine instruction with opportunities for guided practice so you can become familiar with the techniques you're learning and build confidence in a supportive environment.

How does the Reiki Master Certification Program work?

Our Reiki Master Certification Program includes four training classes followed by a graduation ceremony. Each class builds on the previous session, giving participants time to learn, practice, integrate new techniques, and deepen their understanding throughout the program.

Can I teach Reiki after completing Reiki Master Certification?

The ability to teach and certify others depends on the scope of your training. Some Reiki Master programs include Master Teacher training, while others focus primarily on advanced practice. Please review the specific program curriculum to understand which teaching qualifications are included.

Where are Reiki certification classes held?

All in-person training takes place at Neutral Moon Studio, our cozy, fully equipped wellness studio in Atlanta's historic Castleberry Hill neighborhood, conveniently located near Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Free parking is available.

Is Reiki a replacement for medical or mental health treatment?

No. Reiki is a complementary wellness practice and is not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure medical or mental health conditions. It can be incorporated into personal wellness routines alongside appropriate professional care.
